Who are we?
We are the Central Florida Miata Club (CFMC). Our membership includes about 70 Miatas (a few families have two or three!). We are composed of families, singles, students... all kinds of folks. We come from all walks of life, and are of all ages (but we act a lot younger than most of us are).
What do we do?
We get together to drive, maintain, and improve our Miatas, and to socialize. Many events involve driving in caravan. Being part of a twenty or thirty-Miata caravan is a spectacular experience! Past events have included a trip to an ostrich farm, a tour of the Corvette museum, weekend trips to Sanibel Island, various rallys, funcanna competition driving, autocrosses, picnics, and trips to national Miata events. Nearly every event features an informal group lunch or supper at a local restaurant. And we have been known to make occasional extra dessert stops, too. About meetings - we hardly ever have 'em. We'd much prefer to drive. Oh,... we also like to make terrible puns on the CB as we drive in caravan!
When do we do it?
We usually have one or two driving events per month, frequently on the second and fourth Saturdays, but sometimes on weekdays. We have fewer events around the year-end holidays, because people are busy. Our events are organized by member volunteers. This means those volunteers are free to schedule their events on Saturdays, Sundays, or weekdays at their choice. It also means we may have a month with no events, if no one volunteers - but we're usually quite active. Occasionally we schedule an event which lasts over a weekend, or we may participate in a national event which involves three or four days away and usually spans a weekend.
Where do we do it?
Our members come from as far north as Gainesville, as far south as Tampa, and from the west to the east Florida coast. We usually hold our events within this area, and we try to vary the location of events for the convenience of all members. Occasionally we travel further afield to attend a national event or to participate in the event of a sister chapter.
Why do we do it?
Because we share a love for our cars and an enjoyment in driving them and working on them! And we greatly enjoy each other's company and mutual support where car care is involved.
